Hakka culture

My mom is a Hakka which was born in Pingtung. She told me something about Hakka culture. "Liouduei Martyrs Shrine(六堆忠烈祠) and Hakka Culture Museum(客家文物館).”are two good places to know Hakka culture.

Liouduei Martyrs Shrine located in Chutien(竹田) Township. That is the spiritual center for Hakka people. Liouduei Martyrs Shrine is built to commemorate the Hakka ancestor who protected the homeland. The design is based on traditional Hakka architecture, so you can observe some of the Hakka culture in its design.

Hakka Culture Museum sits behind the Liouduei Martyrs Shrine. There are exhibits of history and culture artifacts of Pingtung's Hakka people such as blue shirts. The architecture of the Hakka Culture Museum is also unique. The design of the building is based on the traditional Hakka living compound that was built in semicircle. Activities such as Hakka culture exhibitions and folk song classes are held here.
